Sunday Dinner

I decided to fix my family a nice dinner today. I have only made this dish probably 3 other times but it is SOOOOOO good.

These are the ingredients for Julia Child's Beef Bourguingnon.

If you would like to give this a try I am including the recipe from when Julia appeared on  GMA.

The family was happy!

When you look at this recipe on line it says that the skill level is difficult. In my opinion it is not a difficult recipe....there are lots of steps that you have to be follow but the recipe is well written and they are very easy. So give this a try JUST be sure to read the entire recipe before you start.

Love that is all made in the same pot.......a ONE pot wonder.

The completed project after about 5 hours of work......again read the recipe. Very easy to follow and well worth the time and effort.

Was served over wide noodles.

While the Bourguignon was simmering away in the oven I thought we would like a great dessert with this wonderful meal. Looked around to see what I had and found I had the makeins' for Banana Pudding. Just used the recipe off the Nilla Wafers box. It is FANTASTIC!!!! Why mess with the recipe from the folks who make the ingredients. Just like Chocolate Chip Cookies......off the bag is the best.

How yummy is that!

Yesterday new shelving was bought for my sewing room. All the pieces are coming together so I can start with confidence. Tomorrow a trip to get the paint and I am good to go. I am so excited to get this going and will keep you posted on the progress. What a great winter project.

Snow Day!

I love how snow just makes the everything look so fresh and clean. Guess that is why we sing Make me White as Snow.....everything starts anew, washed clean and fresh.

Today was the first day of the organizing plan. I started on something that has been haunting me for a while now. OUR CLOSET had gotten so out of control with both of us just stuffing things in so I got the garbage bags and began. First took everything hanging down and went through each piece either hanging back up or putting aside for the Rescue Mission.

Ended up with 2 bags stuffed tight.

Now that is a neat ORGANIZED closet.

The sewing room is in motion in my head.....tomorrow after an appointment I will be heading out to get the organizing things that I need. Let the organizing begin!

I hear more SNOW my be on the way........bring it on!

Give Me My Room Back!

With snow on the way my mind turns to hunkering down in my house, baking, making soup and working on house projects. Going to get started my so called sewing room that has turned into catch all and unusable.

How did it ever get to this state?

This is hopefully will be a well thought out process and I will make good organizing decisions .

One of the biggest decisions I have to make is what color to paint this room. I have two different ideas completely opposite of each other. I plan to do something that I said I would never do. I am going to cut an old ratty quilt in half to make the curtains for my room.

I would truly like some opinions. I am leaning towards the happy tangerine color. I really think that would make my room a happy place to be. Or I could go with the safe blues.

Well enough talk time to get to work......will keep you posted. Hopefully will have all the pieces together and will have this room completed by the end of February.

Entering A New and Scary World of Blogging

Well folks after watching "Julie & Julia" for the 4th or 5th time I was inspired to start a blog as a way to entertain my friends and keep me accountable with this years goal of a better life. My plans are to reorganize my entire house starting with an unusable sewing room. Work on UFO's (unfinished objects), have fun in whatever I am doing and keep my family happy. Speaking of keeping my family happy this is what I did for them today.

YUMMMMM Coconut Cream Pie.......At least this makes one person in my family happy.

So far January has been pretty productive for me I FINISHED major a quilt that I have been working on for at least 5 years. This quilt has a nightmare story behind it. While I was working on  this quilt my son Elijah SPILLED RED KOOL AID on a stack of blocks. It soaked through like 20 of them. I was using muslin in the blocks so I was afraid to try to get the red out SO  I threw them away.....YES threw them away. After I was over being mad and upset I realized that the fabric the block had been discontinued but after a long search I found the fabric and purchased what I needed and put it away. Then this summer I was determined to complete this quilt as it was the quilt I was making for my own bed. After completing the top I had it beautifully quilted by Mary Perini she turned it into a work of art. I LOVE IT!
