Entering A New and Scary World of Blogging

Well folks after watching "Julie & Julia" for the 4th or 5th time I was inspired to start a blog as a way to entertain my friends and keep me accountable with this years goal of a better life. My plans are to reorganize my entire house starting with an unusable sewing room. Work on UFO's (unfinished objects), have fun in whatever I am doing and keep my family happy. Speaking of keeping my family happy this is what I did for them today.

YUMMMMM Coconut Cream Pie.......At least this makes one person in my family happy.

So far January has been pretty productive for me I FINISHED major a quilt that I have been working on for at least 5 years. This quilt has a nightmare story behind it. While I was working on  this quilt my son Elijah SPILLED RED KOOL AID on a stack of blocks. It soaked through like 20 of them. I was using muslin in the blocks so I was afraid to try to get the red out SO  I threw them away.....YES threw them away. After I was over being mad and upset I realized that the fabric the block had been discontinued but after a long search I found the fabric and purchased what I needed and put it away. Then this summer I was determined to complete this quilt as it was the quilt I was making for my own bed. After completing the top I had it beautifully quilted by Mary Perini she turned it into a work of art. I LOVE IT!

Boo Was the First to Use the Quilt

This truly was a labor of love for me. There are 68 stars in this quilt and only 2 of them are alike. There were many many trips to fabric stores.

The fabrics used in the quilt are all reproductions of  fabrics from the 1820 - 1840's.
Mary Perini's quilting is the crowning glory to this quilt.

Willis has made it his home.

With that completed I can move on to other things. I have a few quilts started that you will see as I finish them. I have plenty of projects on the list and lots of meals to make.
Till next time, Lori
